Corpus presents archaeological study for expansion of landfill

In the morning of this Thursday (15), the coordinators, directors and teachers of municipal schools of Indaiatuba participated in the lecture “Archeology and Preservation of Brazilian Cultural Heritage”, given by archaeologist Maria Tereza Vieira Parente, from Arqueologika. The event took place in the auditorium of the Autonomous Water and Sewage Service (Saae).

The meeting is part of the requirements for expansion of the sanitary landfill of the municipality, which aims to stimulate knowledge and preservation of history by surveying traces left by ancient populations.

Present at the event, the mayor of Indaiatuba, Nilson Gaspar, pointed out the importance of the landfill to the municipality, which in addition to complying with solid waste laws, contributes to the quality of life of citizens, the environment and job creation and income.

“When I entered the City Hall in 1997, it was an open-air dump and about 50 people lived in the area. A sadness. There was an entire process of adaptation of the site, we moved from landfill to controlled landfill and today the landfill is considered one of the best in São Paulo. Only in the Sorting Center are 25 employees and all income from the sale of recyclable material goes to the works of Funssol (Social Solidarity Fund), “he said.

The company Arqueologika was responsible for mapping the land where it intends to expand the landfill of Indaiatuba, which is close to Fazenda Espírito Santo. During the study, small excavations were carried out along the entire area and sediments collected for sample. No vestige of archaeological site was found.

The meeting also featured a presentation by Corpus Development Manager Suzane Gomes, who spoke about the company and its innovations as the first mass-produced electric garbage truck.
